Field Application and Service Engineer
NanoInk, Inc. is a Skokie, IL-based, private emerging growth company commercializing the Dip Pen Nanolithography® (DPN®) method of nano scale manufacturing. DPN is a patented process used to build nanometer scale structures and patterns by literally drawing materials directly onto a surface. DPN users can build at resolutions ranging from many micrometers down to 15 nanometers, using virtually any material. This combination of ultrahigh resolution and material flexibility makes for numerous commercial applications.
The sales and marketing organization is searching for a highly energetic individual to assist in the installation, applications, and support of our DPN products. Working with NanoInk staff, sales people, and new or existing customers is an exciting part of the growing DPN research community.
Responsibilities Include:
- Establish proficiency in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)/DPN applications and instrumentation, and become a complete resource for supporting current and future customers, of existing and developing DPN products.
- Provide field based installation and application support.
- Interface with new DPN customers to plan system installation.
- Provide training in DPN techniques, NanoInk support procedures, and communication protocols.
- Conduct periodic follow-up calls to verify system performance and user satisfaction.
- Promote use of DPN forum for support and interchange of ideas.
- Serve as technical liaison between customers and sales team.
- Attend trade shows and provide assistance in the booth.
- Assist in fabrication, assembly, and production of systems and consumable items.
- Assemble, characterize and test systems and modules.
- Acquire necessary skills to be able to fabricate and test consumables including substrates, tips and NanoInk kits for applications.
- Provide software testing and documentation.
- Assist marketing and service in the creation of technical notes, application notes, product specifications and other documentation and materials.
- Assist in training and education sessions.
- Prepare materials suitable for training new and existing customers, distributors, and NanoInk personnel.
- Provide troubleshooting of system or applications problems.
- Participate in project to develop new DPN tools.
- Participate in development of specifications for project.
- Assist in develop new applications and confirm preservation of existing capabilities as next generation tool is developed.
- Participate in creation of marketing collaterals for advertising and training salespeople and distributors.
- Assist in Beta customer selection.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in science or technology (advanced degree preferred).
- Prior experience in the use of Atomic Force Microscopy or similar discipline.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills; teaching experience a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Desire to work in fast-moving, entrepreneurial climate.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to travel in the US and Internationally.
- Experience in a product support or demonstration role for high tech products.
