Careers at NanoInk
Research Scientist - NanoFabrication
NanoInk, Inc. is a privately-funded emerging growth company commercializing the Dip Pen Nanolithography® (DPN®) method of nanoscale manufacturing. DPN is a patented process used to build nanometer-scale structures and patterns by literally "drawing" materials directly onto a substrate surface. DPN users can create features at resolutions ranging from many micrometers down to 15 nanometers, using virtually any substrate material. This combination of ultrahigh resolution and material flexibility offers numerous commercial applications in the life science and semiconductor industries.
NanoInk is located in the new Illinois Science + Technology Park, in Skokie, Illinois, just north of Chicago. Our location is convenient to public transportation with free on-site parking. We offer competitive salary and benefits including top-tier health coverage, bonus and stock option plan.
NanoInk seeks a Research Scientist - NanoFabrication to join its product and process development technical staff. To succeed in this position, the preferred candidate will:
- Support NanoInk's applied R&D efforts as a member of the Applied Science Team with hands-on knowledge and experience of lithographic methods at micron and submicron scales.
- Utilize broad direct experience in scanning probe lithography, micro-contact printing, e-beam lithography, and other types of lithographic and micro/nanofabrication techniques to solve materials problems and to develop new processes in support of all business divisions of the company.
- Develop basic competence, within the first 3 months, with NanoInk's Dip Pen Nanolithography® technology for deposition of all types of inks (biomolecules, organic and inorganic molecules) at micro and nano scales on multiple substrates. Previous DPN® experience is highly desired.
- Demonstrate the ability to tackle multiple projects simultaneously and to produce high-quality results against aggressive timelines.
- Demonstrate competence in surface chemistry and analytical techniques used to evaluate surfaces of substrates that have been modified chemically and/or physically.
- Focus broad product development skills on identification, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies/platforms that enhance NanoInk's portfolio of new business opportunities.
- Design, execute, and interpret experiments and test programs independently; proactively apply, qualify, and validate new technologies for commercialization.
- Conduct continuous business intelligence activities to maintain competitive advantage in both commercial and academic market places.
- Generate patent disclosures to strengthen the company's portfolio of intellectual property.
- Represent NanoInk capably, as a technical expert, in interactions with outside customers and vendors.
- Present results of work at external scientific meetings and conferences.
- Travel domestically and internationally, as required, to advance company business goals.
PhD (chemistry, physics, materials science, biotechnology) with postdoctoral experience preferred; must have minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
Candidates should be authorized to work in the United States. Candidates with the requisite education and experience should respond by e-mail to resume@nanoink.net and reference RSNF-1008 in the subject line.
